Kershaw Vapor II Knife | Stainless Steel Pocket Folder Cutlery Review

Posted on: Sep 8

Kershaw Vapor 2 Knife If you prefer a polished look to your knives, this Vapor II model by Kershaw is definitely one to keep in mind. It won't break the bank, and it's from Kershaw, so you won't have to wonder if it's a quality blade or not.

The Vapor II is made entirely from stainless steel, although the quality grades and treatments differ slightly between the blade and the handle.

The handle sports 410 stainless steel and measures 4.5 inches, great for carrying around in your carpenter pocket. (A belt clip comes with the knife set too, just in case you aren't the biggest fan of carpenter pockets.)

The 3.5-inch blade is made from bead-blasted AUS6A stainless steel, a common quality found on many Kershaw knives. It shouldn't need much sharpening, but if it ever does, it's good to know that AUS6A steel is a little easier to sharpen than most other blade metals, H1 for instance.

One minor caveat is actually only a matter of preference: If you prefer assisted-opening features and safety locking mechanisms, you won't find them here. The Vapor II opens and closes manually, with no extra bells and whistles attached. For a similar knife featuring Ken Onion's SpeedSafe assisted opening mechansim, check out the Kershaw Leek knife.
